How-To: Dice onion
Onions add flavor to many savory dishes and diced onions are the perfect way to add flavor without ruining texture.
Cut off both ends of the onion, the top and the root.
Score the side of the onion and remove the outer skin and first layer of the onion and discard.
Place the onion on one of the flat sides and cut directly in half.
Again, place the onion half on the flat side and carefully slice the onion horizontally.
While holding the cut onion together make vertical slices downward, perpendicular to the previous slices.
Make the final slices horizontal and downward, perpendicular the previous slices, to create small cubes of onion. It may be necessary to break some of the pieces up with your fingers if they stick together.
